At their Tuesday, April 14 meeting, the Shaker Heights Board of Education approved revisions to the 2026-2027 academic calendar.
Aderica Grier, currently principal at Louisa May Alcott, a K-5 elementary school in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, has been selected as the next principal of Fernway Elementary School.
New Ohio law requires students to be 5 years old on or before the first day of school to be eligible for kindergarten. The District's first day for the 2026-2027 school year is August 18, 2026.
With spring break around the corner, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the exceptional opportunities available to our students. As many of you are already aware, the District is also facing a more challenging financial forecast now than we have in recent history.
